Hit and run causes damage of at least $200; other police reports

Nov. 27--Sherman Police

Duty on striking fixture -- Dispatch received a call Nov. 12 in reference to a hit and run accident in the 1900 block of West Shields. The caller reported damage to property with a vehicle speeding away. A report was taken for duty on striking fixture/highway landscape equal to or greater than $200.

Possession -- Officers were dispatched Nov. 10 to the 4100 block of North U.S. Highway 75 for a major crash. During their investigation, the officers located less than two ounces of marijuana in the vehicle that caused the crash. A report for driving while intoxicated was generated, and the investigation is ongoing.

Criminal mischief -- Officers responded Nov. 10 to a call from a residence in the 1600 block of LaSalle Drive. The male caller reported that someone had kicked in his front door causing damage.There were no items reported missing and the damage to the door was the only concern. A report for criminal mischief was generated.

Possession -- A traffic stop was conducted Nov. 10 in the 1900 block of Texoma Parkway. The male driver admitted to having drugs in the vehicle. A search of the vehicle was conducted and drugs were found. The driver was arrested for possession of a controlled substance, penalty group 1, less than one gram.

Driving while intoxicated -- Officers conducted a traffic stop Nov. 11 for failure to signal a turn in the 1400 block of Tejas Drive. An investigation was completed and the male driver was arrested for driving while intoxicated.

Driving while license invalid -- Officers conducted a traffic stop Nov. 11 in the 1900 block of Texoma Parkway. The driver had a suspended driver's license and did not have proof of insurance on his vehicle. The vehicle was towed and a report was issued for the issuance of a warrant.

Assault -- An officer responded Nov. 11 to a disturbance in the 1800 block of Texoma Parkway. Upon officer arrival and investigation, it was learned that a good samaritan removed an intoxicated person from a vehicle to prevent the person from driving away in the vehicle. A report was completed.

Driving while intoxicated -- A traffic stop was conducted Nov. 11 in the 2100 block of West Houston. The male driver of the vehicle was suspected of being intoxicated. An investigation was conducted, and the driver was determined to be intoxicated. The driver was arrested for driving while intoxicated.

Assault -- Officers were dispatched Nov. 11 to the 2500 block of North Travis in reference to an assault. Upon officer arrival, the female victim stated the child's father assaulted her by punching her in the arm and placing his hand on her throat. A report for assault/family violence was generated, and the male suspect was arrested for assault.

Theft -- The public safety administrator made contact Nov. 12 with a female complainant in reference to a theft. The complainant stated that her cellphone was stolen from the 400 block of U.S. Highway 82. A report was generated for theft.

Theft of property -- The public safety administrator made contact Nov. 12 with a female complainant in the 800 block of FM 1417. The complainant stated that a known suspect took a chair from her patio. A report was generated for theft.

Criminal mischief -- The public safety administrator made contact Nov. 12 with a male complainant in the 1900 block of Taylor Street. The complainant stated that a suspect(s) damaged the tires on his vehicle. A report was generated for criminal mischief.

Theft of service -- The public safety officer made contact Nov. 12 with a male reporting party in reference to theft of service. The reporting party stated that three male suspects left a business in the 2400 block of Texoma Parkway without paying. A report was generated for theft of services.

Burglary of a habitation -- Officers were dispatched Nov. 12 to a residence in the 5600 block of Texoma Parkway regarding a theft. An iPhone was stolen from the residence. A report for theft was filed.

Theft of property -- Officers were dispatched Nov. 12 to the 600 block of South Rusk in reference to a stolen vehicle. Upon arrival, they learned a motorcycle had been stolen. An offense report was completed.

Driving while intoxicated -- A traffic stop was conducted Nov. 12 in the 400 block of West Houston. The male driver of the vehicle was suspected of being intoxicated. An investigation was completed and the driver was determined to be intoxicated. He was arrested for driving while intoxicated.

Accident involving injury -- An officer was dispatched Nov. 14 to the 2300 block of West Taylor in reference to an accident involving injury. The male victim stated that he was struck by a vehicle in the 1300 block of Little Lane. The driver of the vehicle did not stop and leave identifying information. A report was generated for accident involving injury.

Burglary of a vehicle -- The public safety administrator was dispatched Nov. 14 to the 500 block of Progress Drive in reference to the burglary of a vehicle. The male complainant advised that a suspect(s) gained entry into his vehicle and removed property. A report for burglary of a vehicle was generated.

Aggravated assault -- An officer was dispatched Nov. 14 to the 400 block of East U.S. Highway 82. A female victim stated Nov. 14 that her husband pointed a gun at her. A report was generated for aggravated assault with deadly weapon/family violence. The case is under investigation.
