Henry C. Wolf Elected Chair of the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation Board of Trustees

WILLIAMBURG, Va., Dec. 9 -- The Colonial Williamsburg Foundation issued the following news release:

The Colonial Williamsburg Foundation board of trustees has elected member Henry C. Wolf, retired vice chairman and chief financial officer of Norfolk Southern Corporation, to serve as its chair through 2018.

Wolf, who has served on the board since 2007, succeeds Thomas F. Farrell II, chairman, president and CEO of Dominion Resources, whose term as a trustee continues through 2018.

"My affection for Colonial Williamsburg and my commitment to its critical mission date back to my Historic Area visits as a college student here in Williamsburg," Wolf said. "Our world has changed since then, however the revolutionary events and ideals we interpret here today remain as relevant as ever. I thank my colleagues on the board for honoring me with their confidence, and I look forward to our continued stewardship of this great institution as it evolves to engage and inspire new audiences."

Wolf earned his undergraduate and law degrees from the College of William & Mary, a Master of Business Administration from Louisiana State University and a Master of Laws from Georgetown University. He served as an officer and attorney in the Army Judge Advocate General's Corps and clerked on the United States Tax Court before joining Norfolk Southern as a tax lawyer in 1973. Over the next 34 years he held positions including vice president of taxation and executive vice president of finance before retiring from the company in 2007.

"Hank's leadership, which helped guide Norfolk Southern's success during his tenure, is equaled by his service to his country and his passion for the institutions he so generously supports," said Colonial Williamsburg President and CEO Mitchell B. Reiss. "He has helped steer the Foundation through the market challenges of the past decade, and will help ensure our ongoing success as a world-class living-history and resort destination."

Wolf previously served as rector of the Board of Visitors of the College of William & Mary and is an emeritus member of the Virginia Institute of Marine Science Council. He had also served as a director of AGL Resources, Hertz Global Holdings and Shenandoah Life Insurance Company.

"Colonial Williamsburg's vibrancy amid the challenges facing the nation's historic sites is testament to the contributions of its staff, volunteers, donors, and leaders like Hank," Farrell said.
