Targeted News Service (Press Releases)

FORT LAUDERDALE, Florida, Nov. 25 -- Greenberg Traurig, a law firm, issued the following news release:

William R. Clayton, a Fort Lauderdale shareholder and Co-Chair of the Real Estate Litigation Practice at international law firm Greenberg Traurig, P.A., participated in a panel titled, "Managing Complex Flood Claims - Lessons from Harvey and Irma", at Insurance Business America's Future of Flood Summit, held in Miami on Nov. 16, 2017.

The session covered the influx of nearly $60 billion in claims that were reported after recent hurricanes Harvey and Irma, and explored risk and claim management strategies for complex claims following this year's storms. Panelists also discussed possible outlooks for policyholders given the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA)'s new flood claims process and renewal grace period extension.

Moderated by Brian Samberg, Past President/Board Member of Professional Insurance Agents (PIA) of Florida, Inc., the panel also featured:

William Piacenti, President, Jackson Adjustment Company

Greta Richardson, Branch Chief for Claims, Federal Insurance & Mitigation Administration (FIMA)

Craig Poulton, Chief Executive Officer, Poulton Associates, Inc.

Clayton maintains a national civil trial practice, having tried more than 100 cases in state and federal courts, and has won more than $100 million in jury verdicts (for both plaintiff and defense). He focuses his practice on commercial and insurance damage litigation and is frequently retained as lead trial counsel by major insurers.

A Fellow in the Litigation Counsel of America, Clayton is board certified as a Civil Trial Advocate by the National Board of Trial Advocacy. He is also certified as a Civil Trial Lawyer and Business Litigation Lawyer in Florida.

Clayton has been recognized by various publications including Best Lawyers in America, South Florida Legal Guide, The Legal 500, and Super Lawyers. In 2015, Clayton was selected as "Trial Lawyer of the Year" by the Fort Lauderdale Chapter of the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA). He was selected as President of the Florida Chapters American Board of Trial Advocates (FLABOTA) in 2017.
