Graham-Cassidy Health Care Bill Threatens to Decimate Women’s Health Care

NEW YORK, Sept. 21 -- The Center for Reproductive Rights issued the following news release:
The Graham-Cassidy health care bill, like previous iterations of efforts to repeal the Affordable Care Act (ACA), would have devastating impacts on women's health.
In addition to decimating Medicaid as we know it - gutting coverage for millions of women - and slashing women's access to essential health services like maternity care, the bill would defund Planned Parenthood and restrict private insurance coverage for abortion. The proposal would undo major coverage expansions under the ACA by ending Medicaid expansion and drastically reduce the premium support available to people in the marketplace.
Said Nancy Northup, president and CEO of the Center for Reproductive Rights:
"This bill is another heartless attempt to rob millions of Americans of their access to health care.
"Like previous versions of the bills to repeal the Affordable Care Act, the Graham-Cassidy bill is an unconscionable and short-sighted attack on women's health. The Center for Reproductive Rights demands that the Senate reject this proposal, and focus instead on policies to expand health care access and guarantee comprehensive reproductive health care coverage."
