Gonzalez: Unhinged, unleashed and unending hatred

Lubbock Avalanche-Journal (TX)

Since before the 2016 presidential election, there was already a political opposition movement to undo the results of the election if Trump won. The process was already underway by some who literally hated the businessman turned politician. I recall seeing many crying when he was announced the winner. By now, millions of Americans know that many in Washington, including federal employees, were willing to do almost anything to assure Hillary Clinton the White House. In the end, the Electoral College gave Trump the necessary votes to win the Presidency. Many could not have imagined it, much less, believe it.

The Democrats became unhinged. Many were angry. They still are! A businessman who had spent much of his own money had beat out the professional politician. Many in Washington feared Trump. He had promised to "Make America Great Again" and, drain the swamp, one at a time.

It didn't take long for the Democrats, and many in the news media to unleash their disdain and hatred for Trump. They began attacking his family and friends. Millions in donations to the Democrats had not been enough to win the White House. Countries had even donated millions to the Clinton Foundation. I'm still trying to figure that one out After winning, Trump even offered to donate his salary.

During his campaign, he had promised to create jobs, bring manufacturing back to America, make better deals with other countries, and bring home our troops from Iraq and Afghanistan. He also stated that America should no longer be involved in endless wars. He promised to renegotiate NAFTA. It is now called the USMCA. An agreement was reached with Canada and Mexico, but the House has refused to ratify the agreement by calling for a vote. At the top of the Democratic agenda is impeachment.

Recently, Trump suggested pulling our American troops that are guarding the border between Syria and Turkey out and bringing them home. As soon as he made this statement, he was criticized for making such a move. In a recent meeting with some lawmakers, Trump passed a document in reference to his plan. In a disrespectful manner, Nancy Pelosi took the document and turned it upside down to keep from having to read it. So, why is it OK for American soldiers to help protect another country's border, but it is not OK for America to protect its own borders? Is it because there are no "kickbacks" in protecting our own borders?

In April, Ukraine elected Zelensky as its new president. President Trump called to congratulate him and to ask him to help investigate what transpired between VP Biden, his son and a fired Ukraine prosecutor back in 2016. At the time, Biden had threatened to withhold a billion dollars if a certain prosecutor was not fired. Was this a quid pro quo? Trump never mentioned money or bribes when speaking with Zelensky. There was no quid pro quo suggestion from Trump. Adam Schiff and his secret "whistleblower" turned the Trump conversation around and is now having secret meetings to impeach, once again. Even though Schiff lied, he claims Trump is not being transparent.

The unending hatred for Trump continues. The news media and the presidential candidates continue to talk about impeachment. By now, we all know there was no Russian collusion and no obstruction. Now, it's about a congratulatory phone call to a newly elected president. The Presidential election is a year away. So, what happens if Trump wins in 2020? Never in the history of America has a political party been driven by so much hatred for one person since George Washington. Today, manufacturing jobs are on the rise. The stock market is at record highs. Millions of people have come off food stamps. Unemployment is at record lows. But the presidential candidates don't want to talk about that. There's even talk about imprisoning Trump. They talk about free Medicare for all, open borders, doing away with ICE and, pro-sanctuary cities. They refuse to talk about drugs coming through our southern border, late-term abortions and the crimes being committed by MS-13 gang members. They refuse to bring to the debate any positive suggestions to these problems. From the recent shootings, the only suggestion by some is to confiscate automatic weapons. They ignore the Constitution's Second Amendment, the right to bear arms.

Then again, what do I know? Politicians talk about being transparent. They talk about defending our Constitution. Today, secret meetings are being held in the House where only Democrats are allowed to participate. They are calling it an impeachment inquiry. Pelosi refuses to bring the impeachment process to a vote in the House. Could it be there are not enough votes to impeach? They probably figure that if they keep talking about impeachment, sooner or later, the entire country will finally agree. If they win, two years from now, this nation will be a socialist country. And everything Trump gave this great country will be all for naught.
