Gibbons launches six-figure ad campaign for Senate bid
Blade (Toledo, OH)
July 25--Republican U.S. Senate candidate Mike Gibbons is launching a six-figure statewide cable television and digital advertising campaign Tuesday.
The advertisement, titled "Vacation," shows clips of men clinking glasses and smoking cigars as ominous music plays in the background. Mr. Gibbons condemns "career politicians" for their lavish lifestyles and failure to govern.
"We sent them to Washington to repeal Obamacare," Mr. Gibbons says in the commercial. "That's what they promised us. But now the career politicians have gone on vacation. Do you get the month of August off? Can you afford to with the rising cost of healthcare?"
The Cleveland-area investment banker and longtime Republican political donor announced in late May that he planned to launch a campaign to unseat U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown (D., Ohio) in 2018.
Mr. Gibbons faces Ohio Treasurer Josh Mandel in the Republican primary.
