GEICO accepting applications from college students for 2015 GEICO Achievement Awards

WASHINGTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Between tuition, room and board, books and of course those late-night pizza deliveries, the costs to get a college education can really add up. GEICO is stepping up in 2015 to ease students' financial burden by granting awards of $2,500 to more than 50 college sophomores and juniors across the country through the GEICO Achievement Award Program.

GEICO, which has honored hundreds of students over the past 20-plus years with $1,000 awards, has more than doubled the prize for awardees this year. To be eligible, participants must:

• Be currently enrolled full-time in a bachelor’s degree program at any accredited four-year college or university
• Possess sophomore or junior status
• Have at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA
• Be majoring in Business, Computer Science, Mathematics or a related program
• Have demonstrated leadership on campus and/or within the community

Eligible students can learn more about the program, download an application and watch a video at the Achievement Awards site. Participants will need to submit (via email or fax) a resume, short essay and unofficial transcripts to apply. The postmark deadline is March 2, 2015, and recipients will be notified in June 2015.
