Frank Siano and Healthcare Financial, Inc. Team Up to Address Social Determinants of Health and Improve Triple Aim

Business Wire

Significant new revenue provides MCOs with resources to lower costs and improve care by connecting eligible members with SSI/SSDI disability benefits.

BOSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Healthcare Financial, Inc. (HFI), the leading experts in transitioning disabled Medicaid members to Supplemental Security Income (SSI) or Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) and Frank Siano, Principal at Acanthus Consulting and former Chairman of the Board of Medicaid Health Plans of America (MHPA), have teamed up to offer Medicaid health plans an innovative and risk-free way to help their Medicaid members get the disability benefits they need and deserve.

HFI provides a significant new revenue stream for health plans through their industry-leading Medicaid to SSI/SSDI Reclassification SolutionTM. In turn, health plans are able to use this additional revenue to address key social determinants of health and their Triple Aim goals of improving the health of their members, enhancing the individual care experience and lowering per capita costs.

Frank Siano stated, “Medicaid members often face ‘social barriers’ to accessing health care. This high-need, high-cost population often has complex physical, behavioral, and mental health needs. They often use the emergency department for their care because they lack the proper resources needed to take care of themselves which is a costly and ineffective way to provide treatment.

"I recognized immediately that HFI was directly impacting the lives of these most vulnerable members of society and wanted to be a part of this great effort,” he said. “As a result, these members now have a consistent monthly benefit to help them with housing, nutrition assistance, employment, transportation and life's other basic needs so that they can focus on becoming healthier, happier members of their community.”

Jerry Vitti, CEO of HFI has channeled his ability and expertise into connecting our most vulnerable populations with public benefit programs for over 25 years and remarked, “By connecting these members with SSI or SSDI, their health, lives and futures are drastically improved. The health plan benefits as well. The significant PMPM increase gives them additional financial resources to better care for this population."

By working together, Frank and Jerry are making a visible impact in the Medicaid MCO arena. With their knowledge and resources, they continue to improve access to health care, restore the dignity and rebuild the lives of Medicaid health plan members by connecting them to SSI/SSDI disability benefits.
