Fire destroys mobile home in Livermore Falls

Sun Journal (Lewiston, ME)

Oct. 6--LIVERMORE FALLS -- The cause of fire that destroyed a mobile home at 160 Pine Ridge Loop on Monday night is undetermined because of the damage, Fire Rescue Deputy Chief Scott Shink said Tuesday after speaking with a state investigator.

No one was home when the fire began. A litter of kittens perished in the blaze, but several cats survived, Shink said. The home was believed to be occupied by Shayna Lee, Eric Wetherall and a child, Kaden.

Investigator Chris Stanford of the Office of the State Fire Marshal was at the scene Tuesday to try to determine the cause.

Neighbor Tammie LaPointe said her husky, Meesha, alerted her that the home was on fire.

"I saw a little bit of flames," she said. She reported the fire at about 7:14 p.m.

Pine Ridge Loop is off Route 106.

There is no insurance on the home, Shink said.

When firefighters arrived, flames were showing from the center of the home, he said. Fire crews had plenty of water, including from tankers from Jay, Livermore and Livermore Falls.

Nearly 50 firefighters from Livermore Falls, Livermore and Jay, who happened to be training in different places in Jay responded. Troy Cailler, a trainer with Tri-County Training Association and a Lewiston firefighter, also responded. The Wayne department stood by at Mallard Mart at Routes 133 and 106. Leeds firefighters also responded but were released upon reaching the scene. The Fayette department was also turned back.

According to a post on Lee's Facebook page that was shared by several people, she wrote:

"To anyone who can help, we are gonna need clothes. Kaden is in size 8-10, and size 2 for shoes.

Eric is in medium shirts and pants, maybe like 32 x 30 for pants and size 9 in shoes. He's gonna need a pair of work boots. I'm in a small/medium, but can fit into some bigger kids size clothes. Size 0-2 for pants. Size 4-5 in kids for shoes.

"Anything would help right now. We lost literally everything. Red Cross has put us up for a few nights, but we gonna need some clothes and stuff. Thank you in advance to anyone that might be able to help us!" Lee wrote.
