FEMA Specialists to Offer Mitigation Tips at Lowe’s in Shallotte

RALEIGH, North Carolina, Feb. 1 -- The U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Federal Emergency Management Agency issued the following news release:

Disaster survivors can get tips and advice on how to protect their families and their homes from future disasters at the Lowe's in Shallotte Feb. 4 through Feb. 16.

FEMA flood mitigation specialists can answer questions about home repair, making disaster plans, putting together supply kits and the importance of flood insurance.

Mitigation is the effort to reduce the loss of life and property damage by lessening the impact of future disasters. The mitigation specialists will be available at:

Lowe's

Shallotte, NC 28470

Monday, Feb. 4, through Saturday, Feb. 16

from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Not Available on Sundays

More mitigation events will be held at home improvement stores in disaster-affected North Carolina counties in the coming weeks.
