The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) will support five more Disaster Assistance Service Days in the City of Fort Myers: Oct. 18 at the S.T.A.R.S. complex, 2980 Edison Avenue; Oct. 19 at Shady Oaks Park, 3300 Marion Street; Oct. 22 at the Fort Myers Skatium, 2250 Broadway; Oct. 23 at the Alliance for the Arts, 10091 McGregor Blvd; and Oct. 24 at Jesus the Worker Catholic Church, 881 Nuna Avenue.
Hurricane Irma survivors are invited to seek assistance at a center at any of the locations from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on the specified days. On Oct. 12, the center served more than 250 hurricane survivors at the Fort Myers Dream Center on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.
The service days allow disaster recovery officials to maximize their reach to as many affected areas and survivors as possible. They offer in-person support to individuals. The mobile centers will allow for on-site services limited to assistance with registration and status of existing applications. Assistance will be available in English, Spanish, and Creole.
The FEMA registration process requires registrants to provide a social security number, contact information, financial information, banking account numbers, and insurance policy information. Survivors with phone or internet access are encouraged to register beforehand by visiting www.DisasterAssistance.gov or by calling the FEMA helpline at 800-621-3362 between 7 a.m. and 11 p.m. Pre-registration is not required before attending.
