Farm Bureau Insurance Company of Idaho repeats as Ward’s Top 50 performer in 2025

Idaho State Journal

POCATELLO — Farm Bureau Insurance Company of Idaho, the largest property-casualty insurance company headquartered in the Gem State, announced today that it has once again been named one of the top 50 performing insurance companies in the United States by the Ward Group — marking the second consecutive year the company has received this national honor.

Each year, the Ward Group, a leading provider of benchmarking and best practice studies for the insurance industry, analyzes the financial performance of nearly 3,000 property-casualty insurers across the country. Companies that make the Ward’s Top 50 list must pass rigorous financial stability benchmarks and demonstrate consistent financial strength, operational efficiency and disciplined growth over a five-year period. Farm Bureau Insurance Company of Idaho, including its affiliate Western Community Insurance Company, earned its place on the 2025 list based on outstanding performance from 2020 through 2024.

“The financial performance of Farm Bureau Insurance Company of Idaho over the past five years ranks in the top 2% of all property and casualty insurance companies in the U.S.,” said Todd Argall, president and CEO. “This incredible accomplishment reflects the extraordinary skill, teamwork, and dedication of our employees and agents across both Idaho and Washington. I’m extremely proud of how our team continues to serve our customers and communities each day with care and excellence.”

Argall added, “This recognition affirms to our customers that Farm Bureau Insurance Company of Idaho and our affiliate, Western Community Insurance Company, are financially secure, operationally sound and well-positioned to fulfill our promise of protecting what matters most."

Now in its 32nd year, the Ward’s Top 50 report highlights companies that demonstrate superior results in areas such as return on equity, growth in premiums and surplus, and operational efficiency relative to industry peers.

Staying true to this mission for more than 78 years, the company has grown into the largest property-casualty insurer headquartered in Idaho and ranks in the top three in overall premium among property-casualty insurers in the state.

In both 2024 and 2025, Farm Bureau Insurance Company of Idaho was named to the Ward’s Top 50 list, recognizing it as one of the top-performing property-casualty insurance companies in the nation based on financial strength and operational excellence.

In 2023, the company expanded into Washington state under the name Western Community Insurance, bringing its decades of experience to the broader Northwest community. In 2024, Farm Bureau Insurance was ranked No. 3 statewide and No. 5 in East Idaho on the prestigious list of the Best Places to Work in Idaho. Additionally, AM Best cited the company’s improved underwriting and operating performance as the reason behind its 2023 Financial Strength Rating upgrade from A- (Excellent) to A (Excellent).
