EMILY’s List Issues Statement on Affordable Care Act

WASHINGTON, Oct. 12 -- EMILY's List issued the following statement by President Stephanie Schriock as President Trump signing an executive order undermining the Affordable Care Act:

"With this executive order, President Trump is sabotaging health care coverage for millions of families, leaving them vulnerable to predatory practices by insurance companies. The only people who will benefit from this attack on the Affordable Care Act are Trump's wealthy friends. He and congressional Republicans are relentless in their misguided efforts to undermine the ACA and rip coverage away from tens of millions of people who need it.

"Now that the ink is dry on this executive order, EMILY's List is calling on every Republican to tell voters whether they will stand with Trump. Voters need to know whether their representatives are complicit in attempting to destroy our health care system - risking protections like coverage for pre-existing conditions, trips to the emergency room, and quality maternity care.

"If you're a Republican running for the House or Senate, show a modicum of decency and own up to the destruction you're causing."
