Election 2022: Republican Chris Gebhard wins in 48th Senatorial District [Reading Eagle, Pa.]
Reading Eagle (PA)
Nov. 9—Republican incumbent Chris Gebhard handedly won reelection in the 48th Senatorial District.
Gebhard was facing Democratic challenger Calvin Clements to represent the district in Harrisburg. The district includes northern and western Berks County as well as parts of northern Lancaster County and all of Lebanon County.
According to incomplete and unofficial vote totals, Gebhard received 73,837 votes and Clements received 33,840 votes. While vote totals may not include all mail and provisional ballots, it appears the Republican bested his opponent by a more than 2-to-1 margin.
Gebhard was first elected to the post in a 2021 special election following the death of Sen. Dave Arnold. He owns Hoaster Gebhard & Company, an insurance and risk management firm in Lebanon. He has also served on numerous community organizations.
In Berks, Gebhard received 24,272 votes and Clements received 12,356 votes.
The election is official when the results are certified.
Clements is the former owner of Central Pennsylvania Veterinary Associates, a multiple location veterinary medical service provider. Since his retirement he runs a small beef and horse farm in South Londonderry Township and donates veterinary services to a canine rescue.
