Earned Strengthens Integrated Financial Platform with Acquisition of PearsonRavitz, a Leading Physician Disability & Life Insurance Firm

Business Wire

Addition of specialized insurance firm’s expertise, 5,500 clients, and 20 employees solidifies Earned’s position as the most comprehensive financial partner for healthcare professionals

NEW YORK & ARDMORE, Pa.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--
Earned, a leading tech-enabled financial services firm purpose-built for healthcare professionals, today announced its acquisition of PearsonRavitz, an Ardmore, Pennsylvania-based firm specializing in disability and life insurance for physicians. This strategic move further enhances Earned’s comprehensive model with the addition of PearsonRavitz’s critical insurance solutions, 5,500 clients across all specialties including Pediatrics, ER, Internal Medicine, and OB-GYN, along with 20 experienced employees.

This latest acquisition significantly bolsters Earned's national presence, building on its existing footprint and strengthening its capabilities in key markets including Pennsylvania, California, Texas, New York, Ohio, Florida, Illinois, and Massachusetts. With the addition of PearsonRavitz, Earned now serves more than 13,500 healthcare professionals and practices nationally, further cementing its role as the premier financial partner for healthcare professionals.

“PearsonRavitz brings unparalleled expertise in physician-specific disability and life insurance, a service our clients critically need,” said John Clendening, Founder and CEO of Earned. “Their firm was founded by a physician, for physicians, with first-hand knowledge of the needs, challenges and wishlists specific to physicians’ insurance coverage. We are honored to have Dr. Stephanie Pearson and Scott Ravitz, co-founders of PearsonRavitz, and their accomplished team join Earned. Collectively, we strengthen our value proposition to a diverse range of physicians and practices.”

A trained obstetrician-gynecologist, Dr. Stephanie Pearson co-founded PearsonRavitz in 2017 following her own personal experience with disability, when a career-ending shoulder injury abruptly ended her ability to practice as an OB/GYN. Determined that her peers would not face the same hardships without protection, Stephanie made it her mission to educate physicians about disability insurance—clarifying options, demystifying confusing policies, and helping them avoid common mistakes—so they could safeguard their livelihoods.

Bringing deep industry expertise, Scott Ravitz partnered with Dr. Pearson to form PearsonRavitz, combining her first-hand understanding of the physician experience with his extensive insurance knowledge and market insight. Together, they built a firm uniquely positioned to guide medical professionals through complex insurance decisions with empathy, integrity, and expertise.

“Our clients have always sought PearsonRavitz’s guidance because they trust our insurance expertise in the highly complex healthcare industry,” said Dr. Pearson. “By joining Earned, we can provide even more value to our clients with a broader suite of financial and advisory services that spans wealth management, tax and practice services. Having the peace of mind that they are financially protected and secure allows our clients to focus their time, energy and attention on what they’re trained and love to do: helping and treating patients.” Dr. Pearson will join the Earned executive leadership team as CEO and Insurance Advisor, PearsonRavitz Division and continue her role as a physician disability and life insurance broker and advocate.

“Stephanie and I have grown with our clients over the past eight years and reached a pivotal point for expansion,” said Ravitz. “Joining forces with Earned is mutually beneficial because Earned can now offer disability and life insurance for the first time, and our client base has overnight access to a wealth of additional services that can enhance their overall financial position." Mr. Ravitz will join the Earned executive leadership team as President and Insurance Advisor, PearsonRavitz Division.

Earned’s comprehensive model integrates wealth management, tax preparation and planning, retirement plans, accounting, payroll, and practice-specific financial guidance into a seamless experience designed specifically for healthcare professionals including physicians, dentists, behavioral health therapists, and veterinarians. Unlike legacy financial providers or tech-only solutions, Earned combines white-glove service with advanced technology, ensuring each client receives personalized support from experienced professionals who understand their unique career-driven financial circumstances and goals.

This acquisition marks Earned’s fourth strategic acquisition since its $200M capital commitment from Summit Partners and Silversmith Capital Partners in July 2024. Previous acquisitions include Thomas Doll, a leading provider of financial services to physicians and dentists; Chahal & Associates, an accounting firm specializing in small businesses and physician practices; and Schwartz & Schwartz, a tax, accounting and payroll services provider for physicians and healthcare practices. The addition of PearsonRavitz affirms Earned’s commitment to acquiring top-quality financial services firms dedicated to expanding helpful services for their clients while improving financial outcomes for doctors and their practices.
