Dentons Adds Gary Gartner and Jeffrey Scheine as International Tax Senior Counsel

Targeted News Service (Press Releases)

WASHINGTON, March 2 -- Dentons, a law firm, issued the following news release:

Dentons, the leading global law firm, today announced that Gary J. Gartner and Jeffrey D. Scheine, are senior counsel to the Firm through a strategic affiliation with Alchemy Capital Planning LLC (Alchemy), an international business and tax consulting firm they founded.

Gartner and Scheine will work with clients to develop and execute strategic plans; coordinate the tax, advisory and accounting professionals required to close international transactions and implement effective worldwide tax compliance; develop practical solutions to complex tax issues while minimizing risks; and provide succession planning. Gartner and Scheine are recognized in the business and legal communities for their multi-jurisdictional approach to tax planning and will be resident in the Firm's New York office.

"Gary and Jeff are truly accomplished international tax lawyers and counselors who will augment our award-winning tax capabilities, adding their talent and leadership is another example of Dentons demonstrating its commitment to providing high-level legal advice alongside global advisory services and creating the relationships that will be most beneficial to our clients," said Dentons US CEO Mike McNamara.

Gartner has extensive experience counseling clients on domestic and international tax consequences of transactions, restructurings and securities offerings, and strategic joint ventures, mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, liquidity transactions and related finance matters. He has represented multinational corporations and high net worth families in overall international structuring, global tax planning and strategic advisory. Previously, he was chair of the Tax department in various significant international law firms and before that, was head of Arthur Andersen LLP's U.S. International Tax Practice for the Northeast United States (which included Canada). He also has written and lectured widely on various topics relating to international tax and financial matters.

Scheine provides sophisticated local and international tax and related business consulting advice to domestic and international clients, including private equity funds, private and governmental pension funds, closely held real estate owners and operating partners, and professional service firms with international platforms, on a broad spectrum of transactions and investments. He has written and lectured extensively on a wide variety of topics relating to cross border investment and financing. Prior to the launch of Alchemy, Scheine was tax partner in private legal practice and previously, a tax principal with Arthur Andersen.

"The global business landscape is more dynamic than ever, and the nuances of business, economic and regulatory issues increasingly more complex to navigate," said Gartner. "We look forward to working alongside Dentons to the mutual benefit of our clients around the globe."

Through Alchemy, Gartner and Scheine created an international platform for managing tax strategies and improving tax coordination across multiple countries. The strategic alliance between Alchemy and Dentons, home to more than 240 tax lawyers and professionals in 58 locations globally, offers clients the opportunity to benefit from synergies of complimentary services provided by both entities.
