DELUZIO MEETS WITH WESTERN PENNSYLVANIANS BRACING FOR HUGE SPIKE IN HEALTH INSURANCE COSTS

Unless House Republicans negotiate with Democrats to extend ACA Tax Credits, Allegheny and Beaver County residents who get health insurance through Pennie could see monthly premiums jump about 75%

CARNEGIE, PA This week, Congressman Chris Deluzio (PA-17) met with several Western Pennsylvanians who get their coverage through Pennsylvania's Affordable Care Act (ACA) health insurance marketplace, Pennie. Congressman Deluzio heard firsthand from his constituents how their health insurance costs would skyrocket if Congressional Republicans continue refusing to extend ACA enhanced premium tax credits, likely forcing them and their families off coverage and endangering their health.

"It was tough to hear these stories and feel people's anxiety. Hardworking Western Pennsylvanians are staring down the barrel of a budget-crushing increase in their health insurance premiumsa financial disaster for people," said Congressman Deluzio. "The Western Pennsylvanians who rely on Pennie for their healthcare have a clear message for politicians down in Washington: stop this healthcare crisis now, for the good of the country."

24,000 people in Pennsylvania's 17th Congressional District get their health insurance through Pennie and would see their costs soar unless Congress takes urgent action. Pennie estimates that the average monthly policy cost will increase 74% in Beaver County and 75% in Allegheny County, translating to a $137 and $125 monthly increase per member, respectively.

Congressman Deluzio has been consistently and forcefully speaking out about this issue for a month.He also recently launched an online form where Western Pennsylvanians can share their stories about their healthcare rate hikes. Congressman Deluzio will continue calling on House Speaker Mike Johnson to bring Members of Congress back to Washington to negotiate a deal to re-open the government and stop healthcare costs from skyrocketing.
