Combined Insurance Aims to Grow its Salesforce

PR Newswire

CHICAGO, Jan. 31, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- February has been designated Insurance Careers Month by the Insurance Careers Movement, a cross-industry, multi-phased initiative that aims to raise awareness of career opportunities in the risk management and insurance professions, as well as support efforts to recruit the next generation of industry leaders.

Aligned with the company's growth and the importance of highlighting the many types of careers the insurance industry offers, Combined Insurance, a leading provider of individual supplemental accident, disability, health, and life insurance products, and a Chubb company, is announcing plans to hire 3,000 more sales agents throughout the country by the end of 2018 – increasing its salesforce by 30%.

"Combined Insurance continues to grow and set aggressive goals to further expand our salesforce to provide consumers with the important insurance coverage they may need," said Doug Abercrombie, Senior Vice President and Chief Agency Officer at Combined Insurance.

Abercrombie started with Combined Insurance as a sales agent more than 30 years ago and has worked his way up to the top sales leadership position within the company, overseeing the entire U.S. Combined Insurance salesforce. In 2017, the company grew its salesforce by 19%.

"Healthcare costs continue to rise—especially out of pocket costs that major medical insurance policies may not cover," Abercrombie continued. "There is a need for the supplemental insurance products our agents offer, and there has never been a better time to join our growing company and start a career which can help others through selling these products."

Among the more than 3,000 sales agents Combined Insurance plans to hire this year, the company aims to hire:

  • More than 800 veterans, military spouses or individuals with a military background
  • More than 1,000 Spanish-speaking agents

The United States Department of Labor's Bureau of Labor Statistics industry growth projections support that the insurance industry continues to offer opportunities for career stability, growth and reward. Their research indicates that employment of insurance sales agents overall will grow 10% by 2026.

Combined Insurance has received numerous accolades for its hiring initiatives. At the end of 2017, the company was ranked a Top 5 Military Friendly® Employer for the fourth consecutive year and was named the number three Military Friendly® Spouse Employer in the Over $1B revenue category for 2018. Additionally, Combined Insurance has been named a "Best for Vets" employer by Military Times and a Top Diversity Employer by Hispanic Network Magazine.

Combined Insurance was founded in Chicago in 1922 by W. Clement Stone. With $100, a positive spirit and a vision to make the world a better place, Stone developed and grew the company into what it is today—still headquartered in Chicago with sales agents and managers throughout the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico.

Known for its best-in-class sales training and onboarding for new agents, Combined's full-time sales agent careers offer a virtually unlimited income potential and a total employee benefits package that includes insurance benefits, a 401k retirement savings plan and a discounted stock purchase plan.
