Casey Anthony’s dad has ‘incapacitating’ injuries after car crash on deadliest highway stretch in country

Nov. 26--George Anthony, the dad of Casey Anthony, has "incapacitating" injuries following a weekend car crash in Daytona Beach, Florida.

Anthony was driving Saturday on Interstate 4 -- which was recently named the most deadly highway stretch in the country -- when he lost control of his vehicle and it overturned several times.

He was heading west at around 3 p.m. on I-4 in his wife's Toyota 4Runner when he drove off the right shoulder, then tried to swerve left back onto the interstate, according to the Florida Highway Patrol's accident report. After Anthony lost control of the sport utility vehicle, it bounced between the right, center, and left lanes until stopping off the median shoulder.

Anthony, who's 67 and was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident, was taken by EMS to Halifax Medical Center. He was able to tell the trooper who responded to the accident that he did not remember what happened leading up to the collision.

The Orlando resident was thrust into the spotlight in 2008 when his nearly 3-year-old granddaughter Caylee went missing. His daughter Casey, Caylee's mom, was later charged with first-degree murder, which she was found not guilty of in 2011.

I-4, which runs west to east in Central Florida from Tampa to Daytona Beach, was named the most dangerous interstate in America in 2016 due to it having 1.41 fatalities per mile in the six years prior. The analysis was done by EverQuote, an online service that compares car insurance quotes, using data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
