BRIEF: Tanker trucks delayed as fire destroys Kiski Township home

March 19--A Kiski Township couple escaped without harm Saturday as a fire destroyed their home.

The fire on Gartley Street was reported around 3:15 p.m., according to an Armstrong County emergency dispatcher.

Firefighters from Armstrong, Westmoreland and Indiana counties responded. It was brought under control in about an hour.

The house is reportedly a total loss and the couple has no insurance, authorities said.

"Flames were shooting through the roof," said Sam Sipe, assistant chief with the Kiski Township Fire Department. "It was a difficult battle, but we got it out now."
