BRIEF: Property tax workshop offered Thursday in Oxnard

Feb. 18--Steven Hintz, Ventura County's treasurer/tax collector, will speak Thursday when the Ventura County Community Development Corp. holds a free property tax workshop.

The workshop, being offered in English and Spanish, is part of VCCDC's "From House to Home" Homeowner Workshops. They are designed to educate homeowners on topics such as financial planning, home maintenance and estate planning.

Thursday's workshop will take place at 6 p.m. at the VCCDC Home Ownership Center, 2231 Sturgis Road in Oxnard. The workshop is free and the Spanish will be held at 6:45 p.m.

Among the topics to be discussed are:

--How the amount of your taxes is determined

--Impound accounts

--What happens when you fail to make a timely payment

--Supplemental taxes
