BRIEF: Need a flu shot but don’t have much time? Macon-Bibb Health Department can fix you up
Macon Telegraph (GA)
Oct. 30--The Macon-Bibb Health Department is holding a drive-thru flu shot clinic for residents Nov. 9.
The drive-through clinic is from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Macon-Bibb County Health Department at 171 Emery Highway, according to a North Central Health District release. The flu shots are free.
"No matter what other steps you take to fight germs, the best way to fight the flu is getting your annual flu shot," Macon-Bibb County Health Department Nurse Manager Beverlyn Ming said in the release.
While the flu shots are free, insurance companies will be billed for the vaccine. Several insurance companies are accepted by the health department, including Blue Cross Blue Shield, United Healthcare, Cigna, Coventry, Aetna, Medicaid and Medicare.
Participants should have their insurance cards ready when they enter the drive-thru clinic.
Uninsured individuals can expect to pay $25 for a regular dose flu shot and $55 for a high dose vaccine for those who are ages 65 or older.
