BRIEF: Medical Mutual of Ohio donates to TPS, BGSU
Blade (Toledo, OH)
March 14--Toledo Public Schools Foundation will receive a $450,000 donation from Medical Mutual of Ohio to support college scholarships for the district's high school students.
TPS announced the donation today and will accept the funds at a 10:30 a.m. event Tuesday at Waite High School.
The money will be given over a three-year period. In addition to scholarships, the money also will be used to expand TPS' Young Women of Excellence and Young Men of Excellence mentorship program.
Also today, the Ohio health insurance company announced it would contribute $1 million to Bowling Green State University's new Optimal Aging Institute.
The initiative is aimed at providing learning opportunities and educational materials for health systems and others about helping senior citizens to live longer and healthier lives, as well as create new wellness programs on and off campus, according to a university news release.
