BRIEF: Insurer Humana launches campaign for young mothers in West Palm Beach
Palm Beach Post (FL)
July 24--Health insurer Humana is making Palm Beach County its first stop Saturday in a state campaign aimed at young mothers.
The company said it has about 70,000 Medicaid managed-care members in Palm Beach County and the Treasure Coast, and the 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. fair at West Palm Beach'sSouth Olive Community Center is aimed at about 2,500 members who are women ages 15 to 35 in Palm Beach County. The event includes free seminars on topics including prenatal and post-partum services and pediatric care.
Good sleep and nutrition -- and even avoiding second-hand smoke -- can all improve the health of moms and children and help head off problems later, said Humana's Florida Medicaid medical director Ian Nathanson.
West Palm Beach was selected first because of the region's high concentration of women of child bearing age among Medicaid members, spokesman Mitch Lubitz said.
