BRIEF: Hurricane Irma: Trump plans Florida trip to see storm damage
South Florida Sun Sentinel (FL)
Sept. 13--President Donald Trump will visit Florida on Thursday to see damage from Hurricane Irma.
Trump's beloved winter getaway, the Mar-a-Lago Club, is in Palm Beach, but a stop in Southeast Florida doesn't appear likely.
White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders announced the visit during a news briefing Tuesday, but didn't provide details beyond asserting that presidential visit during a disaster shows leadership.
"The president's action during these times demonstrate why he's a true leader who can bring the country together and get things done for the American people," Sanders said.
The Federal Aviation Administration on Tuesday issued a notice to pilots that temporary flight restrictions would be imposed on Thursday for a VIP visit to Fort Myers on Thursday.
Another detail came from first lady Melania Trump on Twitter. She said she'd be accompanying her husband on Thursday's trip.
