BRIEF: Hurricane Irma prompts move of nine huge aircraft to Scott

Sept. 08--Nine C-17s are expected to land at Scott Air Force Base on Friday, fleeing the effects of Hurricane Irma.

The large military transport aircraft are being moved from Charleston, South Carolina. The last two are expected by 1:45 p.m. Friday, according to the base's public affairs office.

The Air Force is moving the aircraft to protect them from the effects of Hurricane Irma. The storm is not expected to directly hit the state, but the state is watchful of heavy rainfall, flooding and flash-flooding.

President Trump a state of emergency for South Carolina, which allows federal assistance for state and local response to the storm and its aftereffects.
