BRIEF: Del Mar College gets $100K donation, new training buses
Caller-Times (Corpus Christi, TX)
Jan. 25--Del Mar College got a six-figure boost for continuing education courses.
A $100,000 check was presented for Del Mar's continuing education Safety Institute by Texas Mutual Insurance. During the Wednesday event at the college's west campus, officials also unveiled new transportation training service school buses.
The Safety Institute provides a variety of training courses, including training on food handling, and others tailored to meet OSHA requirements and guidelines, according to the college's website.
Texas Mutual Insurance provides workers' compensation insurance. The company donated the funds and Woody Hill, Texas Mutual Insurance's vice president of safety and Information, presented the check during the Wednesday event.
The donation helps underwrite most of the courses, making them free for students, according to Del Mar's website.
