BRIEF: Athens insurance company holds its 168th annual meeting

June 12--Policyholders with Athens-based Southern Mutual Insurance Co. held the 168th annual meeting last week at the company's headquarters on Alps Road.
The members re-elected Donald H. Nikolaus, Allen R. Green, Elbert N. Whitmire III, and Fredrick W. Dreher II to the board of directors.
Other board members include Scott A. Berlucci, Dennis J. Bixenman, Michael K. Callahan, Philip H. Glatfelter, R. Keith Jerkins, C. Van Morris, and William H. "Dink" NeSmith,. Allan W. Barber, Robert D. Bishop, and Gerald H. Driver serve as Directors Emeritus.
The officers of the company are W. Daniel DeLamater, President; Kimberly L. McClain, Vice President & Secretary; E. Mitchell Parham, Assistant Vice President; and Michael R. Sorrells, Treasurer.
In his annual report to policyholders, DeLamater noted that Southern Mutual experienced a strong year of premium growth and net income in 2015.
Written premiums climbed to a new all-time high, expenses compared to revenue reached an all-time low, and claims compared to revenue were
modest.
