Bill asks why the police or private security firms haven't been involved, but his questions are brushed off. Bill, a morally upright man who is still in love with his wife, finds street smarts he didn't know he had while encountering gangsters and femmes fatales. He has the help of a stalwart friend (the kind "that will help you move a body") who provides shelter and muscle. In addition to the four main volumes, there is an 86-page supplement with an index, the photo credits, racing statistics and minutiae like engine and chassis designations.
