Bishop Votes to Open Reconciliation Process, Begin Health Care Reform
Congressional Documents & Publications
WASHINGTON - On Friday afternoon, Congressman Mike Bishop supported the House budget resolution, which sets the congressional budget for the remaining eight months of fiscal year 2017 and creates instructions for the House and Senate reconciliation process. Doing so allows Congress to take its first step toward legislatively addressing America's health care problems.
"Each year Congress has a responsibility to outline its budgetary priorities, and one of the most urgent issues we must address is the growing health care crisis in our nation," said Bishop. "All of us can agree that Obamacare is far from perfect. I continue to hear from families and seniors on a daily basis about their ongoing health care horror stories. When a law has unintended consequences, Congress has an obligation to act - and every representative in Washington has a responsibility to be part of the solution. We must find a better way to deliver more affordable, quality, patient-centered care for everyone."
Now that both the House and Senate have passed their respective budget resolutions, committees in both chambers can begin working on reconciliation legislation to repeal the Affordable Care Act and create a stable transition to its replacement.
