BAKER, Evelyn Shelor, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 16, 2023. She was preceded in death by her husband, Danny W. Baker; and her son, William H. Shelor III. She is survived by her sons, Scott A. Shelor and Brad D. Baker (Elizabeth); her grandchildren, Andrew Reed Shelor, Britney Reagan Shelor, Ethan Carter Shelor, Sebastian Gabriel Baker and Noah Madison Baker; and her sister, Pauline Pendleton.Born in Indian Valley, Va., she grew up on her beloved parents' farm. She excelled in education, going on to work in the Title Insurance industry, as well as the State Corporation Commission. Always active at her church, Bon Air United Methodist, she could often be found delivering plates of spaghetti at the annual Spaghetti Dinner. She loved her Bridge Club of nearly 50 years, getting together monthly with her closest friends. Known for her generous and giving spirit, Evelyn never met someone she wouldn't go out of her way to help. The family will receive friends and family from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, June 19 for visitation at Bon Air United Methodist Church. Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, June 20 at the same location. In lieu of flowers, please feel free to make a donation in her name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
