As Kavanaugh Hearings Start, Pritzker Campaign Highlights Radical Nominee Rauner Called ‘Impressive’

CHICAGO, Illinois, Sept. 4 -- J.B. Pritzker, a Democrat running for Illinois Governor, issued the following campaign news release:
This week, Brett Kavanaugh's confirmation hearings begin in Washington D.C. Bruce Rauner called him "impressive," and the White House even touted Rauner's praise. Let's take a closer look at Trump and Rauner's Supreme Court nominee and what's at stake if he is confirmed.
While running for president, Trump repeatedly promised to nominate pro-life justices that would undermine women's rights, and Kavanaugh certainly fits the bill. In a decision that was ultimately overturned, Kavanaugh prevented a young woman from making her own healthcare decision, and in another, he wrote that an employer with religious beliefs can override a woman's access to birth control. For Illinois families, the next Supreme Court justice could overturn Roe v. Wade and restrict reproductive rights.
"Fundamental rights are at stake while Trump and Rauner support a radical Supreme Court justice who could overturn Roe v. Wade or roll back reproductive rights," said Pritzker campaign spokesman Jason Rubin. "It's abhorrent that our 'pro-choice' governor supports Kavanaugh when he could easily send women's rights back decades into the past."
