Arbella Insurance Group Named One of Boston Business Journal’s “Best Places to Work” for Eighth Consecutive Year

Insurance Weekly News

By a News Reporter-Staff News Editor at Insurance Weekly News -- The Arbella Insurance Group ("Arbella") announced that it has been recognized as one of the Boston Business Journal's "Best Places to Work" for 2016 in the extra large business category, marking the eighth consecutive year in a row the company has been honored. The award program recognizes extra small, small, medium, large and extra large-sized businesses with high levels of employee satisfaction and positive workplace cultures.

"We are thrilled to once again be recognized as a Best Place to Work," said Ellen Mann, director of human resources at the Arbella Insurance Group. "Our employees' satisfaction and well-being is vital to the success of our company, as it consistently translates into outstanding customer service. We're so proud of the exceptional culture Arbella is renowned for and look forward to celebrating this fantastic achievement together."

Based in Quincy, the Arbella Insurance Group is a mutual insurance company that employs more than 1000 workers in the state and is affiliated with a network of approximately 500 independent insurance agents. Arbella prides itself on its commitment to employees and its strong retention rate, with 55 percent of Arbella employees staying with the company for five or more years and 30 percent for at least 15 years. The company is known for its exceptional customer service and its commitment to giving back to the communities it serves through the Arbella Insurance Foundation.

Since the Arbella Insurance Foundation was created in 2004, employees have donated, with support from the Foundation, more than $1,378,000 to hundreds of local charities, in addition to logging thousands of volunteering hours. This past year, Arbella employees participated in a wide variety of charitable and volunteer events both as a company and in their personal time. As a company, employees regularly volunteered at Cradles to Crayons, Father Bill's & MainSpring, Birthday Wishes and Lazarus House and participated in the Walk for Hunger, the Jimmy Fund Radio-Telethon, a companywide fundraiser to support women and men's cancers programs at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and many more.

Arbella is committed to fostering a collaborative and hardworking culture that extends far beyond compensation. The company supports employee well-being in a number of ways through work-life balance options, a variety of health and fitness related programs and many learning and development opportunities. "Arbella's commitment to work-life balance is so much more than just words," said Vik Saraf, senior actuarial analyst. "Arbella clearly knows that my contribution at work is enhanced when I can spend time with my family and focus on fitness and other personal goals."

The Boston Business Journal's annual "Best Places to Work" program recognizes 80 extra small, small, medium, large and extra large sized businesses whose benefits and unique initiatives put them ahead on the employee satisfaction curve. To select the winners, employees from Massachusetts-based companies participate in an anonymous survey that asks about company benefits, atmosphere, values and loyalty. The results are analyzed by a third-party research firm, and the winners are broken down into five categories based on size.

The 2016 "Best Places to Work" rankings will be released at a June 23 event at Symphony Hall in Boston.
