Appointed AG Eric Schmitt Still Dodging Questions as Missouri Goes to Court to Strike Down the Affordable Care Act

KANSAS CITY, Missouri, July 9 -- The Democratic Party of Missouri issued the following news release:
Today, Missouri's lawsuit to have the Affordable Care Act declared unconstitutional was heard by a panel of federal appeals court judges in New Orleans.
Elimination of the 2009 law would end protections for patients with pre-existing health conditions, lifetime cost limits, prohbitions against insurance discrimination against women, tax credits for small businesses to insure their employees, and allowing young people to stay on their parents' insurance plans until age 26.
If the legal effort Schmitt supports is successful, thousands of Missourians could lose their health insurance coverage.
"Eric Schmitt decided to put Missouri's legal might behind an effort supported by insurance companies to deny health coverage for Missourians who need it most," said Missouri Democratic Party Executive Director Lauren Gepford. "Schmitt owes Missouri an explanation as to why he decided to join with this legal effort at the taxpayers' expense. This continued pattern of evasiveness with his clients is unacceptable."
