INDIANAPOLIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield (Anthem) is proud to announce that its Medicare Advantage plan in Brown, Gibson, Johnson, Kosciusko, Marion, Morgan, St. Joseph and Wells counties in Indiana has received four Stars from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) for 2017. This score is up from 3.5 Stars the previous year.

The CMS Medicare Star Rating system ranks the performance and quality of Medicare Advantage and Medicare prescription drug plans to help beneficiaries and their families compare plans. Star Ratings are calculated each year using a scale of one to five stars (with five being the best), and may change from year to year, depending on how the plan performs. Medicare Advantage plans are rated on their ability to help members stay healthy, assist members in managing chronic (long-term) conditions, ensuring positive member experiences with their health plan, achieving member satisfaction, and providing effective customer service. Medicare Advantage and Medicare Prescription Drug plans are also rated on how well they perform on drug plan customer service, member complaints, member experience with drug plan and drug safety.

The plan is sold under the name Anthem MediBlue Access (PPO). It is available for purchase during Medicare’s Annual Election Period (AEP), which began Oct. 15 and continues through Dec. 7.
