Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield Indiana Announces Hoosier Healthwise and Healthy Indiana Plan Medicaid Contract Renewal

Business Wire

Four-year contract will provide continued support for Medicaid members and those with specialized health-care needs

INDIANAPOLIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield announced the renewal of its Hoosier Healthwise and Healthy Indiana Plan (HIP) Medicaid contract agreement with the Indiana Family and Social Services Administration (FSSA). The renewed contract will ensure Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield Medicaid members have continued access to a variety of high quality, affordable health care benefits, including pharmacy and dental coverage.

"At Anthem, we are committed to providing our members with premiere services and support and we believe this contract renewal is another step towards us achieving that promise to the consumer,” said Kristen Metzger, Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield Medicaid Plan president. “We look forward to our continued partnership with the State and providing much needed health care services to Hoosiers.”

As a part of the contract, Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield Medicaid beneficiaries will continue receiving risk-based managed care services. Members will also be eligible to enroll in incentive programs designed to help improve health outcomes and increase member responsibility, provider participation, and innovative care.

The renewed FSSA contract became effective January 1, 2017. It is a four-year contract and the state of Indiana has the option to approve two one-year extensions for a maximum of six years.
