Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield Indiana Announces Hoosier Healthwise and Healthy Indiana Plan Medicaid Contract Renewal

Four-year contract will provide continued support for Medicaid members and those with specialized health-care needs

INDIANAPOLIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield announced the renewal of its Hoosier Healthwise and Healthy Indiana Plan (HIP) Medicaid contract agreement with the Indiana Family and Social Services Administration (FSSA). The renewed contract will ensure Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield Medicaid members have continued access to a variety of high quality, affordable health care benefits, including pharmacy and dental coverage.

As a part of the contract, Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield Medicaid beneficiaries will continue receiving risk-based managed care services. Members will also be eligible to enroll in incentive programs designed to help improve health outcomes and increase member responsibility, provider participation, and innovative care.

The renewed FSSA contract became effective January 1, 2017. It is a four-year contract and the state of Indiana has the option to approve two one-year extensions for a maximum of six years.

About HIP 2.0

The Healthy Indiana Plan is a health-insurance program for qualified adults. The plan is offered by the State of Indiana. It pays for medical costs for members and could even provide vision and dental coverage. It also rewards members for taking better care of their health. The plan covers Hoosiers ages 19 to 64 who meet specific income levels. HIP 2.0 includes options for a Plus Plan as well as a Basic Plan.
