American Property Casualty Insurance Association Expands Advocacy Practice in Florida

Targeted News Service (Press Releases)

TALLAHASSEE, Florida, Nov. 20 -- The American Property Casualty Insurance Association issued the following news release:

The American Property Casualty Insurance Association (APCIA) today announced it has expanded its presence in Florida, adding Sarah Revell as assistant vice president of public affairs to join the association's advocacy practice led by Logan McFaddin, APCIA's assistant vice president for state government relations.

"Florida is a top priority for APCIA and our members," said Jessica Hanna, APCIA's senior vice president of public affairs. "Logan McFaddin has been an instrumental voice in Tallahassee on behalf of Florida insurance consumers. Growing the Florida team underscores APCIA's commitment to protecting the state's insurance marketplace and proactively advancing consumer reforms. Sarah Revell is a dynamic communicator and strategist who will be integral in building the new APCIA."

Together, McFaddin and Revell will lead advocacy and communications initiatives on behalf of Florida's insurance consumers and the marketplace. Top legislative priorities moving into 2020 include reforms to address Florida's crumbling legal climate and assignment of benefit abuse in auto glass repair. This is in addition to APCIA's ongoing efforts to help American families prepare for--and respond to--natural catastrophes through mitigation and resiliency.

Logan McFaddin Bio:

McFaddin serves as assistant vice president for state government relations covering Florida and Puerto Rico. She joined APCIA in December 2014 having served as director of legislative affairs for Florida Chief Financial Officer Jeff Atwater. McFaddin was responsible for both the CFO's and the Department of Financial Services' legislative priorities, which included legislation that enhanced detection and prevention of workers' compensation premium fraud, reformed Florida's state contracting process, streamlined regulation and processes for the Division of Agent & Agency Services, created the Homeowner's Claims Bill of Rights and conflict of interest standards for appraisal umpires, and enhanced consumer protections around mediators and neutral evaluators.

Prior to joining CFO Atwater's administration, McFaddin served as the director of legislative affairs under Governors Rick Scott and Charlie Crist for the Agency for Persons with Disabilities. During this time, she worked to fill a long-standing budget deficit of over $125 million within the agency, as well as pass legislation to help the agency stay within its Medicaid waiver appropriation while providing individuals with developmental disabilities more flexibility in choosing and receiving services important to them.

Before joining the Agency for Persons with Disabilities, McFaddin served both as the deputy director of legislative affairs and budget manager for the Florida Department of State under Governors Crist and Jeb Bush. Working with Secretary of States Sue Cobb and Kurt Browning, she developed and coordinated passage of the department's legislative and budget priorities.

A native Floridian, McFaddin is a graduate of the Florida State University with a Bachelor of Arts in English. McFaddin and her husband, James, reside in Tallahassee with their two West Highland Terriers.

Sarah Revell Bio:

Revell joins APCIA after most recently serving on the senior management team at the Florida Department of State (FDOS), where she supervised media relations and long-term communications planning for the department. She also served as the primary spokesperson for the department on a variety of issues, including the 2018 recounts.

Before joining the FDOS, Revell was the media and marketing manager for the Florida Department of Health, managing all aspects of public health marketing and health promotion campaigns, including traditional, paid and social media, as well as grassroots tactics. While there, she also served as an official spokesperson for the department and assisted with developing proactive and reactive media strategies. Revell was also instrumental in helping to manage crisis communications during natural disasters and high-profile health issues, such as Zika.

Revell has served as an account manager at a public relations firm based in Tallahassee, Fla., as the director of special projects for the Florida Department of Education, as the chief of staff to Florida First Lady Ann Scott, deputy director of scheduling for the Rick Scott Administration, special events coordinator for the Florida State University Foundation, and the project services coordinator for the World Triathlon Corporation in Tampa, Fla.

Revell is a graduate of the Florida State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Public Relations. Her and her husband, Jay, reside in Tallahassee with their daughter, Winnie.

The American Property Casualty Insurance Association (APCIA) is the primary national trade association for home, auto, and business insurers. APCIA promotes and protects the viability of private competition for the benefit of consumers and insurers, with a legacy dating back 150 years. APCIA members represent all sizes, structures, and regions--protecting families, communities, and businesses in the U.S. and across the globe.
