American People Deserve to Leave Obamacare in Past

WASHINGTON, Jan. 31 -- LIBRE Initiative issued the following statement by President Daniel Garza:
Today marks the deadline for enrolling for health insurance under the Affordable Care Act, or Obamacare. According to press reports, more than 11 million Americans have enrolled this year, which is roughly in line with what was projected by the Obama Administration last October.
But while enrollment for the year is roughly consistent with the lowered expectations set just a few months ago, it remains far below the 23 million enrollments projected by the Congressional Budget Office for 2017 shortly after Obamacare was signed into law. Enrollment has consistently fallen below these projections since the law was implemented.
"For far too long Hispanic families across the nation have been burdened by the failed Obamacare system, which has raised premiums, reduced healthcare choices, and cut work hours for working families. It's important to remember the original promises for this system, and note how far it has fallen below expectations and promises - as people deal with higher costs and narrower networks. We can do better.
"We call upon the President and Congress to work together to pass bipartisan legislation that will provide affordable access to health care options that increase competition and meet consumer needs. Ours laws should not rely on coercive mandates and tax penalties that force people to buy products that they do not need or want. We support a patient-centered, market-based solution that increases transparency, promotes competition among insurance companies and discourages wasteful price inflation."
