AIA Members Recognized by White House for Resiliency Efforts

WASHINGTON, Dec. 22 -- The American Insurance Association issued the following news release:

Three AIA member companies have been recognized by The White House for their commitment and ongoing support of resiliency efforts in communities across the United States. FM Global, Munich Re and Swiss Re were cited by the Obama Administration for working closely with the federal government "to integrate resilience into the fabric of how we build, rebuild, plan, and prepare for the impacts of climate change." Each company's individual commitment was announced in conjunction with the release of the December 2016 report Standards and Finance to Support Community Resilience, which explores opportunities for greater collaboration between the private and public sector on resiliency measures.

"This is a great recognition for our members and their dedication to increasing resilience measures across our county. All three companies deserve to be recognized for their continued thought-leadership on this issue. With the frequency and severity of weather events increasing, AIA can't emphasize enough the importance of developing preparedness measures that seek to reduce risks and costs of these disasters. We remain committed to working with our membership, public officials on the state and federal levels, and our partner organizations to better integrate resiliency efforts in communities across the country."

Celebrating its 150th year in 2016, The American Insurance Association (AIA) is the leading property-casualty insurance trade organization, representing approximately 325 insurers that write more than $127 billion in premiums each year.
