Aegis Travel Insurance Introduces Innovative Coverage for Event-Driven Travel, Helping Travelers Recoup Trip Costs When the Main Event Is Canceled

Business Wire

HARRISBURG, Pa.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--

Aegis Travel Insurance, a division of Aegis General Insurance Agency and K2 Insurance Services, has launched protection options designed for experience-first travelers who plan vacations around once-in-a-lifetime concerts, festivals, and sporting events, as opposed to the destination. Now, travelers can abandon an entire trip and recoup prepaid, nonrefundable expenses if the attraction they planned the adventure around is canceled.

“Modern vacations are increasingly driven by experiences, with more trips built around a single event. Ticket insurance might refund the cost of a seat, but it doesn’t protect the thousands of dollars travelers often spend getting and staying there,” said Jason Schreier, CEO of Aegis Travel Insurance. “When the event is the reason for the journey, your travel insurance should cover that.”

Sports tourism, fueled by World Cup attendance, is already breaking records with approximately 1.24 million international visitors expected to travel to the U.S., according to Oxford Economics. With music tourism also on the rise, traditional ticket protection and travel insurance may not be enough if the main event is canceled. Aegis Travel Insurance’s approach helps safeguard the full travel investment, including airfare, hotels, and more.

The offering comes at a time when event disruptions are becoming more common. In recent years, cancellations and postponements have affected everything from professional golf and college football to major tours and Las Vegas residencies involving artists such as Post Malone, Jelly Roll, Dolly Parton, and Demi Lovato.

For travelers who plan entire trips around attending a show, these cancellations can create a choice between continuing with a different trip or losing significant prepaid costs.

Schreier added, “Many people have been to Vegas several times, and if the very reason they’re going is to see a celebrity residency and it’s canceled, they might not want to go on that trip at all. With this type of travel protection, they can abort the whole vacation and get their money back.”

Aegis Travel Insurance has designed its Go Ready insurance policies with event-focused travel in mind. Aegis’s Go Ready Priority Plus Plan includes event cancellation coverage that reimburses for covered, prepaid, nonrefundable trip costs if a ticketed event is canceled.

By pairing comprehensive trip cancellation benefits with event-specific protections, Aegis Travel Insurance helps travelers book with greater confidence, knowing that if the event is canceled, their investment can be saved.

Visit GoReadyInsurance.com to learn more about the above-mentioned plan. This is only a brief description of the coverage(s) available. The policy will contain reductions, limitations, exclusions, and termination provisions. The Priority Plus Plan described herein is underwritten by Starr Indemnity & Liability Company.
