Advocates Defeat ACA Repeal in Senate

WASHINGTON, Sept. 26 -- The Asian and Pacific Islander American Health Forum issued the following statement by President Kathy Ko Chin regarding the Senate's decision to not call a vote on the Graham-Cassidy bill, the effort to repeal the Affordable Care Act (ACA):

"The power of community engagement and the strength of our collective voices are clearly seen in the Senate as efforts to repeal the ACA once again fail," said Kathy Ko Chin, APIAHF president and CEO.

"The same action that supported the ACA into law over seven years ago today fights to protect health care access for all. We at APIAHF and our allies will not be silent when 32 million Americans are at risk of losing their health coverage.

"Today is not the end of our efforts to protect the millions of individuals and families counting on the ACA and Medicaid, but instead is a testament to our collective strength."

As outlined in APIAHF's testimony and commentary, it is time for Congress to move beyond trying to repeal the ACA and instead to work in a bipartisan manner to close remaining gaps in coverage and improve financial affordability for all Americans.
