A.M. Best Affirms American Family’s ‘A’ (Excellent) Financial Strength Rating

MADISON, Wisconsin, April 10 -- American Family Insurance issued the following news release:
A.M. Best affirms American Family's 'A' (Excellent) financial strength rating for the 17th year in a row and affirms the company's issuer 'a+' credit rating.
A.M. Best affirms our 'A' (Excellent) financial strength rating, the third highest of their 15 ratings, for the 17th year in a row. A.M. Best also affirmed our issuer credit rating of 'a+' for the second year in a row.
This rating includes The General and Homesite. Main Street America is expected to be added to the enterprise group rating in 2019. The company will evaluate options to add Ameriprise Auto and Home to our enterprise group rating in the future, pending closure of the transaction.
The 'A' rating reflects A.M. Best's opinion of an insurer's ability to meet its ongoing insurance policy and contract obligations.

* American Family Life Insurance Company: A (Excellent) financial strength rating with a stable outlook.
A.M. Best also affirmed the 'a+' issuer credit rating of American Family Insurance Group and American Family Life Insurance Company (the fifth highest of 21 ratings). A.M Best's issuer credit rating reflects their opinion of an insurer's ability to meet its ongoing financial obligations.
