Jan 28, 2010 (Datamonitor via COMTEX) -- Property and casualty insurance provider Zurich has appointed Steve Gillen as global head of marine claims.
Mr Gillen has more than 25 years of experience in marine claims and risk engineering, most recently serving as senior vice president and president, Chartis Marine Claims Adjusters. Prior to his time at Chartis, he held numerous senior level positions within the industry.
Additionally, Mr Gillen has served as chairman of the Service Committee for the American Institute of Marine Underwriters for the last eight years, and is an adjunct professor with the American Institute of Marine Underwriters.
In his new role, Mr Gillen will report to Chris Barnes, chief claims officer at Zurich Global Corporate.
Mr Barnes said: "Steve is recognized as one of the top talents in marine claims. We are thrilled that he has accepted this key new role and know that his knowledge and experience will greatly serve Zurich's marine customers and business associates."
