UC4 Software Wins the Allianz Data Center as Strategic Customer; Largest Single Order in UC4’s History, Complete Replacement of Existing Enterprise Job Scheduling Solutions by 2008
DENVER - May 9, 2006 - UC4 Software, the global technology leader in enterprise job scheduling, and AGIS, the IT service provider for Allianz companies in Germany, announced today that Allianz has selected UC4's job scheduling software, UC4:global, for total control of batch processing on all platforms, including internal file transfer. By mid-2008, Allianz Group's IT service provider in Germany will completely replace the products they are currently using with UC4:global. AGIS operates one of Germany's largest computing centers and is one of the largest users of IBM mainframes. The licensing agreement is the largest single order in the history of UC4.
AGIS believes that savings in upgrades and support will be high enough to finance the entire project.
"UC4:global proved its value to us in every preliminary test we conducted," said Martin Fuchs, head of central operating methods and processes at AGIS. "It was the only product on the market that was able to completely fulfill our extensive list of requirements, including a user-friendly interface, ease of use, and especially efficiency of the solution."
For evaluation purposes, AGIS defined 250 criteria that the new job scheduler had to fulfill. By the end of a preliminary study conducted by AGIS, only UC4 and one other potential supplier remained in the running -- out of five global competitors. "In direct and intensive comparisons, UC4's integrated file transfer and simple handling enabled it to gain a significant leg up on the competition," said Fuchs.
"We closed the deal with AGIS -- the single largest order in our history -- by beating out some tough competition," said Franz Beranek, founder and CEO of UC4 Software. "In doing so, we again demonstrated that we are one of the top international providers of enterprise-wide job scheduling."
Until now, AGIS has been operating four different job schedulers in order to control the various processes and applications in its heterogeneous IT landscape. This approach was not only costly but also too complex to efficiently handle their customers' growing needs. UC4:global will successively replace the solutions currently in place at the AGIS central computing center. By early 2008, at the latest, it will control AGIS's more than 150,000 daily jobs and processes throughout Germany.
UC4:global runs on a Linux platform, from which it will control all Allianz Group Germany processes on host and client platforms, such as z/OS, UNIX, Solaris, and Windows. In the future, UC4:global will also completely control SAP applications, databases and industry-specific solutions. AGIS currently has a mainframe capacity of nearly 50,000 MIPS and supports more than 5,600 servers and nearly 100,000 workstations.
