Trio jailed in earlier burglary

Aug. 17--WILLIAMSON -- Two Matewan men and one from Red Jacket have been arrested on charges related to a burglary that occurred in July, according to documents obtained from Mingo County Magistrate Court.

Justin Davis, 24, of Matewan, Tyrone Prater, 23, of Red Jacket, and Christopher Risinger, 25, of Matewan, were arrested for conspiracy, grand larceny, nighttime burglary and petit larceny.

According to reports, the three defendants conspired together to rob the residence of Johnny Gooslin.

The defendants allegedly stole two air conditioners valued at $400 and a yellow one-ton trailer valued at $3,000. They then reportedly took the trailer to a scrap yard in South Williamson, Kentucky, where they sold the trailer for scrap metal and cash.

Davis and Prater also are accused of conspiring to steal a transmission from Cooter's Garage (victim: Kenneth May) that is valued at $1,200. Davis allegedly drove the getaway vehicle while Prater loaded the stolen transmission into it.

Lydia Andreal Lester, 27, of Justice, was arrested for breaking and entering, petit larceny and destruction of property.

According to police reports, Lester threw a brick into the glass door entrance of Regina's Carryout in Justice, shattering the entryway. The defendant then reportedly entered the store and stole several cartons and individual packs of cigarettes. The damaged property, along with the stolen items, is valued at more than $1,000.

James Collins, 28, of Williamson, was arrested for domestic battery.

Officers responded to Williamson Memorial Hospital after receiving a complaint about a woman being involved in an altercation with a man.

Officers spoke to the victim, who reportedly had redness on her face and neck. Based on the victim's complaint, it was determined that Collins shoved his wife into a wall, hitting her, then choking her during an argument over bills.

Josh Vance, 24, of Dingess, was arrested for DUI (second offense), disorderly conduct and assault.

While performing a routine traffic stop on a 2008 silver Chrysler Crossfire, the officers said they found that Vance's license had been revoked for a DUI in 2011.

The defendant, who allegedly had already been involved in an earlier argument with Browning Grocery Store owner Anthony Browning, reportedly had threatened to beat up Browning and burn his residence. The defendant allegedly made several trips back to the store before being stopped by the arresting officer.

Jimmy Estep, 50, of Delbarton, was arrested for assault and brandishing.

According to the victim, James Whitt, and a video of the event, Estep confronted the victim in a threatening way by being verbally aggressive. During the confrontation, Estep allegedly pulled a black pistol from his back pocket in a threatening manner and pointed it toward the victim. The defendant also reportedly was trying to get Whitt to step onto his property while brandishing the weapon.

Jeffery Bartrum, 41, of North Matewan, was arrested for battery and conspiracy to commit a misdemeanor.

Bartrum reportedly conspired with Joshua Hurley to make physical contact with a female juvenile. According to police reports, the two men planned to spit on the girl.

The girl went to her mother and reported the incident, at which point to victim's mother called 911. The allegation could cost the two a year in prison or a $500 fine.

Jamie Sherman Lester, 33, of Baisden, was arrested for driving with a license revoked for DUI.

Earl Justus, 44, was arrested for DUI, driving left of center, no proof of insurance and no proof of registration.

Justus was pulled over after officers received a call regarding a possible intoxicated driver traveling left of center. It was later allegedly determined, after officers issued a field sobriety test, that the Justus was drunk. The defendant allegedly was unable to provide proof of insurance or registration for his vehicle and denied the prospect of taking a secondary sobriety test.
