Traffic stop leads to felony drug charges for passenger

The Moultrie Observer, Ga.
By The Moultrie Observer, Ga.
McClatchy-Tribune Information Services

March 08--MOULTRIE -- A driver's failure to dim his headlights while meeting a police car led to felony marijuana charges against his passenger after officers searched the vehicle.

Jamy Lee Godfrey, 23, 119 Manning St., Funston, was charged Thursday with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute.

Moultrie Police Department reports said that an officer stopped a 2002 Chevrolet Trailblazer at about 6:15 p.m. near the intersection of Fourth Avenue and Seventh Street Southwest. Police said that the driver, Dontavious Stephen Spence, failed to dim the headlights as he met an officer's car on Seventh Street Southwest.

A police dog indicated the presence of drugs in the car and a search turned up marijuana on the passenger side and the console.

Spence was issued a warning for failure to dim headlights.

In other arrests

--Keith Randrelle Davis, 31, 116 Pear St., Pavo, was charged Friday with driving under the influence (refused test), canceled registration, felony driving while license revoked, no insurance and open container in vehicle.

Norman Park Police

--Josue Vasquez, 26, 380 Maple Forge Drive, Athens, was charged Thursday with driving without license and too fast for conditions.

Thefts

Moultrie Police

Wild told police that she left the wallet inside a business in the 2400 block of South Main Street. When she returned to retrieve the wallet it was gone.

--Robin Poole, 1400 block Fifth Avenue Southeast, reported Thursday that an orange bicycle valued at $70 was stolen from his front porch.
