Aug. 31--Deals of the week

A quick look at recent retail, commercial and industrial projects, sales and leases of note in Western Pennsylvania:

$1.525 million

Property sold: Painter-Kosor Road, South Huntingdon

Seller: O.C. Cluss Lumber Co., Uniontown

Buyer: West Brothers Holding LP (Gas Field Specialists), New York

Details: Former 26,000-square-foot trust facility of O.C. Cluss, to be used for transportation activities of Gas Field.

Comment: "(We'll) probably only do some interior cleanup, and perhaps in a year add 15 new employees," said Brad West, vice president, gas field specialist.

$1 million

Property sold: 2461-81 Brodhead Road, Aliquippa

Seller: Shaben Michael Sons Inc.

Buyer: Paul and Andrea Wolfe, Steven Augustein

Details: The Crestmont Shopping Center, a single-story, 50,157-square-foot retail strip built in 1955 with 11 tenants.

Comment: "We wanted to insure our store, C&I Hardware Inc., would remain in the center for the future as we take over from our parents," said Andrea Wolfe, whose parents are retiring from C&I.

$500,000

Property sold: 3949 Patterson Road, Raccoon Township

Seller: Hopewell Area School District

Buyer: Mark IV Development LLC, Aliquippa

Details: An elementary school building, on about 30 acres, which has been vacant since 2007.

Comment: "We plan major renovations of the building for potential office use, although we would consider residential," said Marco Policastro of Policastro Construction, whose family purchased the school.
