The American College Alumni Association to Offer Innovative CLU®/CHFC® Refresher / 14 Hours CE Credit Program

BRYN MAWR, PA - July 27, 2006 - The American College Alumni Association will host the CLU®/ChFC® Refresher / 14 hours CE Credit Program on Oct.  26 - 27 at the Gregg Conference Center on The College’s campus in Bryn Mawr, Pa.  Graduates who have either or both of these prestigious designations are encouraged to participate in this program as a way of increasing their knowledge of the latest industry tools, techniques and trends. The program will also fulfill 14 hours of CE (Continuing Education) credits.

The program will be taught by Denny Axman, CLU®, ChFC®, CFP®, AEP and Lou Shuntich, J.D., LL.M. Axman is an alumnus of The American College who works for Prudential Financial, Inc. where he is recognized for his financial expertise.  While working with Prudential, Axman has been the proud recipient of 16 Prudential Presidents’ Citations. He is a life member of the Million Dollar Round Table and a member of The American College Alumni Association.

Shuntich specializes in business and estate planning and has worked in the law department of the Prudential Life Insurance Company. He is an associate editor of the Journal of Financial Service Professionals and is the past chairman of the American Council of Life Insurance Split Dollar Task Force.  Shuntich has also written three books.

As consultants, both men work together to provide education to fellow professionals through the innovative CLU®/ChFC® Refresher Program. They have been teaching the program for over three years all over the country. In an effort to enhance alumni education, The College is bringing this successful program to its Bryn Mawr campus. The American College Alumni Association is dedicated to keeping all of its alumni current while providing opportunities for fellowship and professional growth.

"The American College was given the opportunity to bring this great program to our campus and we hope that our alumni take full advantage of it. Both of these men are experts in their field and I am sure attendees will find the experience both valuable and profitable," said Russ Figueira, associate vice president of Alumni Relations.

The Refresher Program will be an intense two-day program with engaging coursework that combines the theoretical with the practical. Some of the many topics to be covered as part of the two-day educational event include:

  • Advanced marketing and how to get involved
  • Five levels of estate conservation planning
  • Business buy and sell agreements
  • Nonqualified deferred compensation
  • Split dollar life insurance

Tuition for the two-day 14 hours CE credit program will be $475. This includes breakfast, lunch, refreshments and all course material. A special dinner will be served including a wine and cheese reception and a presentation from Axman and Shuntich. For commuters, dinner will be available for $60 on Thursday, Oct. 26. Resident’s room and board will be an additional $150, including dinner.
