Symetra Edge ProSM Fixed Indexed Annuity Taps Power of Diversification

New FIA Product Offers Both S&P 500® Index and S&P GSCI® Index

BELLEVUE, Wash.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Symetra Life Insurance Company today announced the launch of a new single-premium fixed indexed annuity (FIA) product called Symetra Edge ProSM. Designed to meet the retirement planning needs of customers looking for diversification and principal protection, Symetra Edge Pro offers a choice of two indexes — including a commodities index — as well as a fixed account option and guaranteed minimum value feature.

“While many fixed indexed annuities are tied to the S&P 500® Index, Symetra Edge Pro allows customers to allocate money to accounts where interest is based on the performance of both the S&P 500 Index and the S&P GSCI® Index — giving their money a chance to grow through the power of diversification,” said Dan Guilbert, executive vice president of Symetra’s Retirement Division. “This product design came out of discussions with our distribution partners who asked for a solution that offers their clients the opportunity to earn higher crediting rates than more traditional fixed products.”

The S&P 500 Index tracks the performance of 500 publicly traded, large-sized U.S. companies in various key industries, while the S&P GSCI Index is recognized as a leading measure of general commodity price movements and inflation in the world economy. Interest earned on the account is based on how the selected index performs. Because indexes may perform differently under similar market conditions, Symetra Edge Pro helps give customers’ savings an additional chance to grow.

With Symetra Edge Pro’sguaranteed minimum value feature, customers who leave their money untouched through the end of the five- or seven-year surrender charge period will see growth regardless of index performance1.

If the unexpected happens, Symetra Edge Progives customers multiple ways to access their money, including the ability to withdraw up to 10 percent of the contract value annually, free of charge. Guaranteed lifetime income options and a nursing home and hospitalization waiver also are available.

Symetra Edge Pro offers two interest-crediting methods: point-to-point and monthly average; and five account options: S&P 500 Point-to-Point, S&P 500 Monthly Average, S&P GSCI Point-to-Point, S&P GSCI Monthly Average and Fixed Account. Funds may be allocated to one, two or all five accounts, and clients can transfer money between the Fixed Account and any indexed account(s) at the end of each one-year term.

Symetra Edge Pro is now available through select banks and broker-dealers. For more information about Symetra Edge Pro, call the Symetra Life and Retirement Sales Desk at 1-800-706-0700.
