Specialty Underwriters Insurance Company Selects Duck Creek Technologies’ EXAMPLE Platform® for Commercial Lines

Duck Creek to enable full Internet-based policy processing for insurer’s Program and Retail Agents
Bolivar, MO, December 15, 2005 - Duck Creek Technologies, Inc., a provider of rating and policy administration software for the insurance industry, today announced that Chicago-based, Specialty Underwriters Insurance Company (SUA), has chosen Duck Creek’s EXAMPLE Platform® to provide a web-enabled, end-to-end policy administration system for the insurer’s Commercial Lines of business. The implementation is currently underway and on track for production for all Commercial Lines in all states that SUA operates in through their Partner Agents.
SUA is implementing the complete suite of Platform products, including: EXAMPLE Author®, EXAMPLE Server®, EXAMPLE Express®, EXAMPLE TransACT™, EXAMPLE Templates™ and EXAMPLE Forms™.
SUA selected Duck Creek as an integral part of its continuing effort to provide more technology, automation, and services to their Program and Retail Agents (Partner Agents). The Duck Creek system will enable SUA to offer Internet-based processing, allowing SUA’s partners to easily submit, quote and administer the insurer’s Commercial products. Additionally, Duck Creek’s EXAMPLE Platform offers flexible integration to SUA’s back-end systems and easy access to the company’s data.
"We have long been impressed with the Duck Creek rating engine and the reputation of their team. When we learned about the expansion of their system for complete policy administration and support of Commercial Lines, we knew we had to take a closer look," commented Barry Cordeiro, SUA’s Chief Information Officer.
Mr. Cordeiro continued, "Not only was the system a great fit for us, but the Duck Creek team continues to exceed our expectations. Our decision was not just made on functionality and technology. We also wanted a trusted partner who could truly be a virtual extension of our organization; eliminating the need for us to build a large in-house IT staff."
"We appreciate SUA’s selection of our solution and their confidence in our team," noted Doug Roller, CEO of Duck Creek Technologies. "Speed-to-market, enabled by modern-day technology solutions like our EXAMPLE Platform, is a value recognized by many of today’s insurers in both personal and commercial product areas. The industry has been very receptive to our solution in the Personal and Specialty Lines markets, making this expansion to accommodate Commercial Lines the logical next step for our product."
About Specialty Underwriters' Alliance, Inc.
Specialty Underwriters' Alliance, Inc. through its subsidiary SUA Insurance Company (SUA) is a specialty program commercial property and casualty insurance company. SUA offers its insurance products through agents selected as "best in class" partners (Partner Agents) after they have undergone a rigorous vetting process. We believe that this "partnership" relationship is a substantial improvement over the way that traditional insurance companies have operated. Historically, insurance companies have also underserved the specialty market because of the complex business knowledge that is required. As opposed to other insurers who insure many business classes for each line of business, we are able to assign underwriting, claims and actuarial personnel to focus on specific programs where they develop in-depth knowledge of that particular industry.
